I would like to take this opportunity to draw attention to the fabulous experience of hosting Japanese students. I have to be honest, the first time we were all a bit apprehensive and not sure what to expect. It sure is strange to know you will be sharing your home with a person you don’t know and whose first language is not English. We needn’t have worried! We have just farewelled our 3rd visitor and felt this time I needed to share what an amazing experience it is. We had so much fun trying to figure out what each other was saying and learning about the differences between our cultures and way of life. We had a lot of fun times and laughs. I also felt very proud of showing off our awesome community and Rochedale State School Family. On farewell day it was lovely to see how many friends the students had made and the genuine affection between them and the students of Rochedale. We still keep in touch via social media – friends for life! Can I just say – if you have thought about hosting – Do It!!! You will not regret it!! It really is a rewarding fun filled time welcoming another child into your family. The only “bad part” – saying goodbye.
